The Guilford Foundation (TGF) is pleased to announce that it has committed $112,000 for initiatives and organizations serving Guilford in 2018. This reflects 14 grants made through our competitive grant making (complete list below), 3 additional awards made through our emergent grant budget, 14 scholarship awards to graduating Guilford High School students, 14 grants from designated funds for local organizations, and investments in TGF-driven leadership initiatives (including the Shoreline Nonprofit Workshop Series).

TGF provided 14 grants though our competitive grant making process ranging from $1,000 to support a Habitat for Humanity build to a $10,000 signature grant to the Guilford Preservation Alliance’s Witness Stones Project to expand their programming in Guilford. A complete list of competitive grants made in 2018 is as follows:

• $10,000 to the Guilford Preservation Alliance’s Witness Stones Project to upgrade their website and increase their programming at Guilford High School to educate on issues of race, justice and inclusion.

• $5,000 to Clifford Beers to support case management services to Guilford children and their families with psychiatric and behavioral disorders.

• $4,800 to the St. George Catholic Church Resettlement Committee to support housing funds for transitional housing.

• $3,053 to The Dudley Foundation, Inc., to develop an interpretive plan for the Dudley Farm Museum which will serve as a “blueprint” in developing signage, exhibits and programs.

• $3,000 to Bare Necessities to support diapers for babies in need in Guilford.

• $3,000 to Guilford Before and After School Care to provide tuition assistance for families in need.

• $3,000 to Guilford Center for Children to support health and safety needs, include improvements to the playground and a speaker’s series on health and nutrition.

• $2,500 to the Guilford VFW to support the purchase of tables, chairs, and other equipment for the new building.

• $2,500 to the Guilford Arts Center for operational support of their core programming to the community.

• $2,000 to Legacy Theatre to support the summer presentation of “Hamlet” on the Guilford Green.

• $2,000 to SARAH, Inc., to support enrichment services, including social and athletic activities.

• $1,750 to Guilford Parks & Recreation Department to create a DoSo Dance series targeted to teens.

• $1,000 to Raise the Roof to support a Habitat for Humanity community build on the Guilford Green.

• $1,000 to Vista Life Innovations to support their “Shared Stage Production” of The Addams Family, which enables individuals with disabilities to participate in a theatrical production at The Kate theatre.

In addition to the competitive grant awards listed above, TGF has also committed to:

• $25,000 to Women & Family Life Center for their “Open Door” Campaign and renovation. In 2018, we provided the second and final installment of this multi-year award.

• $9,400 for our Youth Advisory Group grant making, which included grants to the Guilford Agricultural Society, the Shoreline Arts Alliance, Guilford Free Library, Guilford Parks and Recreation Department, Guilford Keeping Society, Guilford Socials Services, Guilford Center for Children, GHS Music Boosters, the Columbus House, and Women & Family Life Center.

• $14,975 for scholarships to graduating Guilford High School students.

• $13,575 for designated grants to local organizations from legacy funds.

• $1,000 to the Porco Foundation for suicide prevention education at Guilford High School, $900 the Guilford Garden Club, and $2,000 to Women & Family Life Center for security upgrades through an emergent need grant making process.

The Guilford Foundation will open the 2019 competitive application process on January 1, 2019, with a deadline of March 15, 2019.
