The Guilford Foundation and GSB Give $30,000 in Sponsorship Awards to Local Nonprofits

The Guilford Foundation (TGF), in partnership with GSB, gave an additional $13,000 in its second wave of sponsorship funding, bringing the 2023 distribution to $30,000. The total number of nonprofits receiving sponsorship awards for 2023 is 23.

For the August application deadline, awards ranging from $500 – $2,500 were distributed to nine organizations, including The Cove Center for Grieving Children, The Guilford Fair Parade, Guilford Fund for Education (GFFE), Partnership for Strong Communities, Roots 4 Relief, Rotary Club of Guilford, Soundview Family YMCA, and St. George Men’s Group, and Syd’s Book Shack & Boutique.

“Our focus is to support the community-serving organizations that enrich the quality of life in our vibrant Guilford community. This recent wave of funding will be directed to significant area events such as the Guilford Fair parade, Wishing Wheels Bike Drive, all the Guilford Fund for Education events, and Run for the Cover, to name a few,” explained Executive Director Liza Janssen Petra. “We thank GSB for their incredible generosity and community stewardship.”

The first wave of sponsorship recipients included BHcare, Clifford W. Beers Guidance Clinic, Community Dining Room, Community Nursery School, Guilford Art Center, Guilford Keeping Society, Legacy Theatre, Paul Dotsie KARE Foundation, GHS Project Graduation, SARAH Foundation, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Theater Arts Parents Support (TAPS), and Woman and Family Life Center.

Renee Pallenberg, GSB Executive Vice President, Director of Marketing, added, “We are excited to sponsor 23 events this year that play a vital role in raising awareness and funds for charitable organizations. These events also serve as cornerstone fixtures on the Shoreline, fostering a sense of community and bringing people together through meaningful activities.”

TGF reviews sponsorship requests two to three times per year. All organizations seeking funding must be tax-exempt and offer programs or services directly benefiting the Guilford community. The specific event or series of events should be consistent with the mission and values of The Guilford Foundation and GSB.
