The Guilford Foundation and GSB Disburse $12,500 in Sponsorship Awards

The Guilford Foundation (TGF), in partnership with GSB, disbursed $12,500 to eight nonprofits as part of the first round of 2024 sponsorship funding. These awards are designated to assist community-serving organizations in hosting events aimed at fundraising or increasing visibility within the Guilford area. Through two additional application reviews, $30,000 will be distributed by year-end.

Executive Director Liza Janssen Petra expressed gratitude for GSB’s generosity and trust in TGF to allocate their $30,000 donation, stating, “These sponsored events play a crucial role in fundraising, brand-building, and programming for our nonprofit partners, ultimately enriching the lives of our neighbors, families, and friends within our community.”

Sponsorship awards in the first round ranged from $1,000 to $5,000. They were granted to the following local nonprofits: Community Dining Room, Community Nursery School, Guilford PorchFest, GHS Project Graduation, SARAH Foundation, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Theater Arts Parents Support (TAPS), and Woman and Family Life Center.

Petra added, “We take pride in supporting diverse community events, from established traditions like the Little Folks Fair to innovative initiatives like PorchFest, where in-town residents will host performances on their porches. Our funding also contributes to important programs for GHS students, such as a substance-free celebration for seniors and the upcoming theatrical performance of Legally Blonde. Whether it’s $500 or $5,000, our charitable organizations consistently affirm and appreciate the importance of this funding.”

TGF reviews sponsorship applications three times a year, with the first deadline passing on January 15th and subsequent deadlines set for April 15th and July 15th. To be eligible for sponsorship, organizations must be tax-exempt, provide programs or services directly benefiting the Guilford community, and align with the mission and values of both The Guilford Foundation and GSB.
