TGF Welcomes Interns Lorelai Huben and Clara Matos da Cruz
The Guilford Foundation (TGF) is excited to announce the addition of two Guilford High School interns, Lorelai Huben and Clara Matos da Cruz, who will work with the TGF team to learn more about nonprofit communications, contributing to social media strategy, and content creation.
As experienced volunteers with a strong commitment to community service, Huben and Matos da Cruz look forward to expanding the Foundation’s brand awareness and bringing a youthful perspective to TGF. Both students participate in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and the Guilford High School Theater Arts (GHSTA) productions.
Huben, a dedicated member of the Girl Scouts for nearly 12 years, has earned her Bronze and Silver awards and is currently pursuing her Gold award. She has attended several community service trips to Appalachia, where she helped improve the living environments of families in need. As an aspiring communications or marketing major, Huben is excited to leverage her community insights and skills in collaboration with the TGF team. “The sense of community in Guilford is remarkable; I am thrilled to deepen my connection to it through this internship while learning more about philanthropy,” she stated.
Having lived in four different countries and speaking three languages fluently, Matos da Cruz brings a global perspective to her role at TGF. She is a varsity swimmer, volunteers to teach English to adults, and enjoys engaging with the community. “I am eager to gain hands-on marketing experience while contributing to projects directly impacting our community. This internship is a tremendous opportunity for growth,” added Matos da Cruz.
Executive Director Liza Janssen Petra articulated our vision for the internship program: “Our initiative is crafted to empower talented high school students with experience to help them with their next steps in life. We also hope to instill an understanding of the power of philanthropy to foster the next generation of leaders in giving.”
She added, “As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are thrilled to welcome Lorelai and Clara to our team. They truly embody the Foundation’s values and commitment to enriching the quality of life within Guilford.”
