TGF Awards Over $9,000 in 2026 Sponsorship Funding to Support Local Nonprofits
The Guilford Foundation (TGF) has kicked off its 2026 Sponsorship Program in partnership with Ascend Bank to support nonprofit fundraising and brand-building events throughout the year. Following the first of three review cycles, TGF awarded $9,450 in sponsorship funding to eight local nonprofits.
“We are so grateful for Ascend Bank’s continued partnership, which reflects a deep commitment to the Guilford community and the impact of local philanthropy,” said Liza Petra, Executive Director of The Guilford Foundation. “The bank provides $30,000 to TGF and other local community foundations to support the fundraising efforts of local nonprofits. These events make Guilford special by providing community and connection while raising critical funds.”
The first round of sponsorship recipients includes:
- Alex, Inc. – Guilford Pride Event
- Community Dining Room – Annual Sponsorship
- The Connecticut Hospice – Par for Compassion Golf Tournament
- Guilford Art Center – Craft Expo, Soup for Good & Holiday Expo
- Guilford Keeping Society – Guilford House Tour
- Rotary Club of Guilford – LobsterFest & Frosty 5K
- Theater Arts Parents Support – GHS Spring Musical
- Women & Family Life Center – empowHER Gala
Jen Mullett, Program Director of The Guilford Foundation, emphasized the importance of event-based fundraising. “For many nonprofits, signature events are essential to their financial sustainability,” Mullett explained. “By investing in these programs, we’re able to provide additional resources to empower our community partners by maximizing participation, visibility, and ultimately, the resources they need to serve our community.”
TGF reviews sponsorship applications three times a year. The remaining application deadlines are April 15 and July 15. To be eligible for sponsorship, organizations must be tax-exempt and provide programs or services that directly benefit the Guilford community and align with the mission and values of both The Guilford Foundation and Ascend Bank. Potential recipients should visit TGF’s online grant portal to apply.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Ascend Bank began partnering with four community foundations, including The Guilford Foundation, redirecting $100,000 in event sponsorship funds to support local needs. This partnership underscores Ascend Bank’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves and supporting the vital role community foundations play in identifying and prioritizing local needs.
