The Guilford Foundation and the Branford Community Foundation are teaming up to present the United Way’s engaging and interactive 30l30 Experience via Zoom on April 8 at 3:30 pm. It’s a free 90-minute virtual training session that puts each attendee in the head of a household role for a low-income family. During the session, participants will be presented with 30 real-life decisions to make over a simulated 30 days.

Who Should Attend|
30|30 is an empathy-building journey that leaves everyone with a greater understanding of the challenges that low-income households navigate daily. Everyone is encouraged to attend, including nonprofit boards and staff, social service providers, civic leaders, schools & academic institutions, community groups, and others who would benefit from deepening their understanding of the lived experience of their low-income neighbors.

What to Expect
A trained United Way team member facilitates every 30|30 session. Participants join a Zoom call where they are oriented to the lived experiences of low-income households, participate in large and small group discussions, share opinions through online polls, and engage in the 30|30 virtual platform where they are prompted through a variety of scenarios to make decisions that affect their family’s health, finances, education, and happiness. At the end of the 30-day simulation, participants see the impact of their choices on those same household indicators.

Technology Requirements
Participants will register through a 30|30 Zoom registration page and receive a Zoom link for their date and session. They must log in using a laptop or desktop computer (not cell phones or tablets) and navigate between Zoom, SLIDO Polls, and the 30|30 platform windows. Instructions will be provided at the beginning of the session, and a United Way team member will provide live technology support.

Each participant needs to follow the link to register. Once registered, they will receive an email confirmation that provides preparation instructions for the 30|30 session and the opportunity to save the event information to their calendars. Email reminders will also be sent the day before and the morning of the session.
