TGF Announces 2026-2027 Board Leadership and Welcomes New Members

The Guilford Foundation (TGF) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors and the election of its officers for the coming year.

Sarah Blanton has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors. Joining her on the Executive Committee are John Hyman, Vice Chair; Nathan Scoggin, Treasurer; and Maggie Moffett, Secretary. Together with the Board of Directors, they will help guide the Foundation’s mission of enhancing the quality of life in Guilford through philanthropy, community leadership, and grantmaking.

“The Guilford Foundation has a long history of bringing people together to strengthen our community,” said Sarah Blanton. “I am honored to serve as Board Chair and look forward to working alongside my fellow board members, staff, donors, and community partners to build on that legacy and continue expanding the Foundation’s impact.”

“We are fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated group of volunteers providing leadership to the Foundation,” said Liza Janssen Petra, Executive Director of The Guilford Foundation. “Our board members bring a wide range of professional expertise, community involvement, and passion for Guilford. We are especially grateful to our outgoing and incoming leaders for their commitment to ensuring the Foundation continues to grow its impact in the community.”

Joining the Board of Directors are Jeanmarie Cooper, Diana Carney Caty, and Pam Ellman.

Diana Carney Caty is the co-founder of Traveling Toys, Inc., a nonprofit organization that creates toy lending libraries in partnership with public libraries. Since its founding in 2019, Traveling Toys has expanded to more than 30 locations across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Ukraine, including a partnership with the Guilford Free Library. She also brings a diverse legal background, including experience in estate planning, criminal prosecution, immigration law, and insurance defense.

Jeanmarie Cooper brings extensive experience in finance, nonprofit leadership, and philanthropy. She began her career in investment banking and corporate finance before dedicating more than 25 years to nonprofit leadership and volunteer service. Her work has focused on mental health, education, financial literacy, and family support, and she currently serves as a Trustee of Bates College.

Pam Ellman brings extensive legal experience and a strong commitment to community service. Since moving to Guilford in 2010, she has volunteered with New Haven Legal Assistance and She Leads Justice, helping underserved individuals navigate legal systems and understand their rights. She currently serves as Chair of the Guilford Human Services Council, where she works closely with local nonprofits and community organizations.

The Foundation also extends its sincere appreciation to outgoing Board Chair Christopher Hodgson for his leadership and service. During his tenure, the Foundation celebrated its 50th anniversary, completed the renovation and opening of its headquarters at 44 Boston Street, expanded its endowment, and continued to increase its impact through grantmaking, scholarships, sponsorships, and community leadership initiatives.
