Bishop Family Fund

For over 150 years, Bishop’s Orchards has been more than just a business; it’s a cornerstone of Guilford’s agricultural heritage. They’ve evolved from a dairy farm to a thriving market, continuously adapting while staying true to our roots. Each generation has brought its unique vision, and the recent addition of a Winery, Cidery, CSA Program, Creamery, and Event Space further solidifies Bishop’s Orchards as a vibrant community hub.

The 6th generation of Bishops believe in continuing the family’s longstanding commitment to philanthropy and giving back to the community. With this in mind, they established the Bishop Family Fund. This unrestricted fund will enable the Foundation to distribute resources to vital organizations within our surrounding area, ensuring the Bishop family’s community impact continues for generations to come.

The fund commemorates this remarkable legacy and the exciting transition to the 6th generation’s leadership. Sarah Bishop DellaVentura, Carrie Bishop Healy, and Ryan Bishop are stepping forward to guide the future of the business.

When asked to share their outlook on the company’s future, they explained, “As the next generation assumes leadership, we’re filled with enthusiasm for the future. Witnessing the evolution of Bishop’s Orchards has been a privilege, and we take immense pride in building upon the foundation laid by previous generations. We remain committed to the business, our employees, and our cherished community. With six generations behind us, we’re dedicated to upholding Bishop’s Orchards’ reputation of excellence for many generations to come.”

The generations of Bishops involved in the leadership of the business include:

First: Walter Bishop

Second: Burton Bishop

Third:  Arthur Bishop and Charles Bishop

Fourth:  Al Bishop and Gene Bishop

Fifth: Jonathan Bishop and Keith Bishop

Sixth: Sarah Bishop DellaVentura, Carrie Bishop Healy, and Ryan Bishop

Currently the 7th generation of can be seen helping and learning with their parents and grandparents. The family hopes to be able to continue to maintain an economically-viable farm for many, many years to come to provide our friends and neighbors with quality, fresh food at a reasonable price.
