Ascend Bank Charitable Fund for Guilford
Since the founding of Ascend Bank (formerly GSB) in 1875, the company has focused on being a strong, supportive partner focused on giving back to the community’s it serves.
In May 2009, the Ascend Bank Charitable Fund for Guilford, originally established as the Guilford Savings Bank Scholarship Fund, was created to support Guilford High School seniors pursuing higher education. Over time, the fund has evolved to address the broader and changing needs of the Guilford community.
Today, the fund supports grants for low- to moderate-income individuals and families, broader community needs, and the operating expenses of The Guilford Foundation, helping ensure the Foundation remains strong, responsive, and sustainable for the long term.
“Community investment is at the heart of who we are,” explained Kyle Eagleson, President & CEO of Ascend Bank. “Our partnership with The Guilford Foundation reflects our belief in local leadership, long-term stewardship, and the power of community foundations to make meaningful, lasting change.”
The fund reflects Ascend Bank’s deep and enduring commitment to local philanthropy. In addition to establishing charitable funds with The Guilford Foundation and other community foundations, Ascend Bank partners with these organizations to support nonprofit fundraising and brand-building efforts through coordinated sponsorship funding.
“The fund established by Ascend Bank further strengthens our long-standing relationship,” added Liza Petra, Executive Director of The Guilford Foundation. “It expands our ability to better Guilford today and while ensuring lasting impact for generations to come.”
“Partnering with The Guilford Foundation through this charitable fund allows us to support our neighbors in meaningful ways. From helping low- to moderate-income individuals and families to addressing broader community needs, this fund ensures local organizations have the resources and stability they need to continue serving Guilford today and into the future”, said Shalonta Ford, SVP, Director of Community Engagement.
