Jake Penman Memorial Scholarship
Jake Penman (1993-2008) was a sophomore at Guilford High School in 2008 when he unexpectedly passed away. He enjoyed life to the fullest, especially woodworking, computers, music, fishing, and canoeing, and was an enthusiastic spectator of all sports.
Jake was an avid wrestler, football, and lacrosse player. Aside from athletics, he was involved with the GHS Interact Group and St. George Church. In addition to his many activities, Jake loved to spend time with his family and golden retriever, Tyson. He was a sweet spirit with a heart of gold and a contagious smile.
In 2008, his twin sister and parents established the scholarship award fund in his memory, which is presented each year to a graduating student who displayed characteristics that made Jake so special.
