Saint George Knights of Columbus Fund for Children In Need
In 2012, the Saint George Knights of Columbus established this designated fund to provide annual funding to the Guilford Social Services Department to support children in need.
The Knights of Columbus, a fraternal service organization connected to St. George Church, was originally formed to provide support to members of the community who are sick, disabled, or needy. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief, and public relief works. This group decided to establish a permanent source of funding for Guilford Social Services (GSS),
GSS is a town agency focused on basic needs, ensuring that Guilford citizens in crisis have a safety net. They work with families, individuals, and seniors who need food, shelter, emergency financial assistance, energy assistance, information, and referrals. In addition, they coordinate local clothing and holiday relief programs.
The Saint George Knights of Columbus Fund for Children in Need is designated specifically to help children access services at GSS. The Guilford Foundation provides an annual gift through this fund to GSS to support their efforts to assist children who need help, be it food, clothing, school supplies, or other assistance.
