Elizabeth (Betsy) Goodspeed Frederick (1939 – 2023) was an esteemed educator, technology pioneer, dance enthusiast, and staunch advocate for civil rights. A donor-advised fund was established to honor her multifaceted legacy, providing the family with flexibility year-to-year to support causes dear to Betsy’s heart, from promoting STEM opportunities for girls to backing Planned Parenthood or a friend’s dance company.
Jonathan and Nancy Bishop established this donor-advised fund in 2023 to support musical opportunities for young people. They realize the important role music has played in their lives and hope to nurture a lifelong love of music for children and youth in Guilford.

Chris and Carl Balestracci started fencing at the same time in 1976. Chris was a freshman at Guilford High School with no fencing experience, and he came home to ask his dad to be the faculty advisor for the team because they didn’t have a coach. Carl was the Coach/Faculty advisor for the next 12 years until 1988. He also served as President of the CT Fencing Association for several years. During his tenure, the GHS team won several State Team Championships and they had many individual Champions as well.
Christine and Tony Fappiano established this donor advised fund in 2018 to support individuals with special needs relating to cognitive disabilities, including autism, Down Syndrome, and other disabilities, who require assistance in living a full and vibrant life.
